My family and I relocated several times during the first five months of the pandemic and my painting studio stayed behind. I took to quick sketches of the surrounding landscape as a way to ground myself in my current environment. I’m currently painting from those drawings but approaching it the way I did before life as we knew it drastically changed. Being uprooted multiple times has taught me to not overthink my practice and to keep moving forward in what I know.

Meredith Hoffheins was born and raised in Hanover, PA. Much of the imagery in her paintings stems from the suburban environments where she grew up. She earned an MFA in Painting and Drawing at Pratt Institute in 2012. She recently showed at the online NADA fair with Ortega y Gasset and in the past few years has shown with Trestle Projects, CRUSH Curatorial, Transmitter, and Kentler International Drawing Space. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
