Read Yvonne’s obituary in The New York Times here.
Yvonne meant a lot to me. I first found out about her work when I was in grad school at Rutgers, and was making night landscape paintings. I wrote about her in my thesis paper, and really admired her. After grad school I lived in Berlin, Germany, for two years, and when my husband and I moved back to the states to NYC, I began looking for an artist to assist for, and within a month, heard through a friend that Yvonne was looking for a studio assistant. I reached out to her through DC Moore, and was put in touch with her. It was very special to be able to work with her and to help her make her work for 6 years. I learned so much about her perspective and how she embodied the life of an artist, and so much about color: mixing color and the infinite shades and hues between where you start and where you end up.
